11/13-11/15: Christmas, Cash and Comedy

ROCK-MAS: It's that time of the year. One of the true signs that the Holiday season is upon us, Black Friday, is the annual appearance by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The heavy metal "rock orchestra" that focuses on bringing its own style of Christmas cheer is playing at the XL Center Saturday. Contrary to their name, the Orchestra is not a group of outcast Russian violinists, but actually a troupe of 30 some musicians originating from Florida. TSO often enlists the services of local orchestras to fill out the stage. The show includes all the traditional songs and carols and even has a few original tunes. And of course, there are pyrotechnics and lasers! Buckle up, it's going to be quite the festive ride. Tickets are $25-$57. 3pm and 8pm.

WHAT DO YOU SEE?: Internationally acclaimed medium and clairvoyant Lisa Williams is bringing her "Messages From Beyond" to the Shubert Theater in New Haven Sunday night. Williams has the ability to communicate with loved ones and friends who have passed to the "other side" (though Houdini may have thought otherwise). Tickets are $41.50-$61.50, but unfortunately, just buying a ticket doesn't mean you're guaranteed a reading. 7pm.

CASH, BY SOMEONE ELSE: Celebrate the life and music of Johnny Cash this weekend in Bridgeport. The Man in Black, starring Scott Keeton will be on stage at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This isn't an imitation of Cash as much as it is an homage. You'll hear all your favorites like "Folsom Prison," "Get Rhythm," "I Walk the Line," "Ring of Fire," even Cash's cover of Nine Inch Nail's "Hurt." Tickets are $33-$39. Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 5:30pm and 8pm and Sunday at 5:30pm.

CATCHPHRASE COMEDY: It's time to "Git-R-Done." That's right, Larry the Cable Guy is coming to Connecticut (anyone else wonder what his real name is?). The cut-off clad comic is taking the stage at Mohegan Sun Arena Friday and Saturday Night. Mr. Cable Guy is perhaps best known for his part in the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour," which has grossed more than 15 million dollars. Tickets are $55. 8pm.

GO DADDY-O: Bringing Cab Calloway and the sound of big-band swing into the modern era, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has been getting people up and on the dance floor for some 20 years. Fans of the hit movie "Swingers" will remember the band from the climactic scene of the movie. Since then, they've played everywhere from the White House to the Super Bowl. This weekend, they're at the University of Connecticut. Catch the "Daddy's" Friday and Saturday night at at the Jorgensen. Tickets are $34-$45. 8pm.

LINE UP: The award-winning musical "A Chorus Line" is playing this weekend at the Warner Theatre in Torrington. The show, which features songs like "What I Did for Love" and "I Hope I Get It" has won the Tony for "Best Musical" and even has a Pulitzer Prize to its credit. Tickets are $18.50-$24.50. Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm.

ISN'T IT SATIRIC: Looking for a chance to laugh at the media, pop culture and a whole lot more? Hartford is the place to be Saturday night. "It's Satire" is the latest installment of the Connecticut Forum at the Bushnell. The evening features a discussion with The Daily Show's Samantha Bee, Jason Alexander (George Costanza himself) and David Javerbaum. Ok, you probably haven't heard of him, but he's written for The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The Late Show, The Onion and the Harvard Lampoon (talk about a resume, or just a guy who can't hold a job). Tickets are $25-$55. 8pm.
