9/18-9/20: 90's Rock and Vintage Baseball

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: With hits like "Superman's Dead," Our Lady Peace became one of the '90s most popular rock bands. So where are they now? Connecticut. The band is hitting the Webster Theatre in Hartford Friday night, in support of "Burn Burn" their first new release in four years. Tickets are $20. 7pm.
THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT: With TV shows like "The Steve Harvey Show," and movies like "Barbershop" and "Be Cool," Cedric "The Entertainer" has become one of the most popular comics around. He's bringing his stand-up to Foxwoods Friday Night. Tickets are $30-$55. 8pm.
OLD SCHOOL: From pitchers called chuckers to those awful wool uniforms, it will be a blast from the past Saturday in Hartford. Fans will be treated to a vintage baseball game between the Providence Grays and the Newtown Sandy Hooks at the Hartford Baseball Grounds at Cold Meadows. The teams compete by 19th century rules and use vintage uniforms and equipment. It's free, but you have to bring your own blankets, chairs and refreshments. Good news is you don't have to dress in 1800's garb, though. Leave that to the professionals. Saturday, 12pm.
STROKE, STROKE, STROKE: Rowers will be out in force in Mystic Sunday, for the 18th annual Coastweeks Regatta. Competition will include singles, doubles, quads and fours (we're not quite sure the difference between quads and fours, but we'll check it out). The Regatta can be viewed from 8am-3pm at the North End Lawn at the Mystic Seaport (behind the Seamen's Inne.) It's all part of Mystic's annual Weekend of Rowing, which also features the Battle Between the Bridges Invitational Regatta on Saturday.
(This, by the way, would make for a terrific moment on "So Connecticut".)
SHADES OF HENRY FONDA: One of the greatest courtroom dramas of all time (that doesn't really take place in a courtroom) is playing in Connecticut this weekend in Stamford. "Twelve Angry Men" tells the story of one juror, who refuses to convict a man in a seemingly open-and-shut case. Throughout the course of the show, all the evidence in the case begins to unravel, and other jurors change their tune. The play is in the middle of a run right now at the Curtain Call theater in Stamford. There are shows all weekend, with ticket prices ranging from $14-$26.
