For the first time in 12 years, fans of The Beatles and 60s pop music have a place to get groovy.

The Beat Expo 2009 is coming to the Holiday Inn in downtown Stamford.  It's the first of its kind convention in Connecticut in 12 years.

There will be concerts by tribute bands, memorabilia, special exhibits and displays. Special guests include Connecticut's own, Peter Tork. "I was a total Beatle's fan. I was a folky when they were first exploding on the scene. I thought man that looks like a lot of fun."

"The Monkees TV show was a TV version of the Beatles Hard Days Night and we were very lucky to catch the same wave," Tork said.

Show producer Charles F. Rosenay says its a great pairing.

"Beatle fans are Monkee fans pretty much,"  Rosenay said. "Anyone who loves the music of the 60s will love going to a Beatles convention where they can all come together and share the love with other fans."

Don't be surprised if the convention brings out fans of every age. Rosenay attributes the cross-generational attention to the release of The Beatles: Rock Band. "Kids are bringing their parents and grandparents," Rosenay said.

All together now, you can check it out on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 8 p.m. until midnight.  And Sunday, Nov. 29 from noon until 8 p.m.
