Ugly Sweaters, Another Excuse to Party

Ugly sweater parties are catching on

Somewhere, hidden somewhere in your house or condo, you probably have an ugly sweater. One made of brightly colored yarn and macrame. They're also called "Cosby" sweaters, named after the terrible threads that "Cliff Huxtable" used to wear on the The Cosby Show.

If you haven't noticed, ugly sweater parties are catching on. It's the latest way to feel cool while looking absolutely ridiculous and now it could even score you some cash. Mohegan Sun Casino is holding a contest for the Ugliest Sweater this holiday season. The "It's Not You, It's the Sweater" is going on now.

To enter, simply send a photo of yourself in an ugly holiday sweater to contest@mohegansun.com until Dec. 28th at 10 a.m. The casino will post all of the photos in an album on it's Facebook page and fans will be able to vote for their favorites by clicking "like" on the photo. The photo with the most "likes" as of 10:00am on January 4th will win a $250.00 gift certificate to The Shops at Mohegan Sun.

So whether your sweater has polka dots, pom-poms or an embroidered patch that says "I still believe in Santa" Mohegan Sun wants to see it! And if you don't win, but you still want to rock your bad sweater, throw an ugly sweater party. There's even a Web site chock full of ideas. It suggests a BYOE (bring your own eggnog) policy for guests, a Bad Santa gift exchange and even a Christmas movie trivia game.

It even suggests places for you to buy an ugly sweater, but unfortunately some of us can just dig through our closets.
