It's Lobster Season, Get Cracking!

Lobster is a sweet summertime treat and however you like it prepared -- steamed, rolled, caked, fried or bisqued (if that even exists) -- here are the ultimate lobster joints in Connecticut!
You have a limited amount of time to get to the famous Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough until the last lobster in the season is served, or so says the prominently placed countdown on the Web site!
Enjoy hunks of sweet meat drenched in butter with the sounds and smells of sea air at this BYOB joint, where you’ll sit on wooden picnic tables stretched over the Mystic shoreline.
As soon as Abbott’s famous “hot lobster roll” hits your tongue, you will be in seafood ecstasy.
The famous roll has continuously won Connecticut Magazine’s “The Best of Connecticut” award, and rightfully so. What could possibly be better than a quarter pound of pure lobster meat with melted homemade butter cream on a perfectly toasted bun? They don’t accept reservations, so be prepared to wait and possibly compete for a table with former diner Bobby Flay, who incidentally just opened a new restaurant in the state.
If you’re not in the mood to pick, suck, crack and pluck your way through a whole lobster, swim on over to Tuscany Grill’s “Lobster Mania” in Middletown, where they offer a sea of lobster choices!
Despite the name, the "Angry Lobster" homemade gnocchi will have you smiling all night long. It comes with baby spinach, plum tomatoes and caramelized onions, topped with a sizzling Tuscan oil and fresh basil.
If you’re counting those dreaded summer carbs, try the chilled lobster salad with a perfect blend of mixed mesclun greens, sliced avocado, plum tomato, red onion and fried plantains, all smothered in a mango sesame vinaigrette. Come for lunch or dinner; sit inside or outside. Anyway you choose, you’ll be drooling for more.
U.S.S Chowder Pot in Hartford dates way back to the 1970s and continues to be a staple of perfect seafood in our state.
Famous for its delectable lobster pie the size of a sea monster, the restaurant has a 150-person lounge, dance floor and bar side grill. Monday night is lobster night, where you can find stuffed, steamed or rock lobster ranging from 2-10 pounds. Holy ocean! You better be hungry!
When you think of Asian food, lobster probably isn’t your top pick, but after you taste Ginza’s “Crazy Friday Roll,” you’ll go crazy without it! Shrimp tempura, mango, peppered tuna, avocado and miso sauce topped with the most exquisite lobster salad CT has to offer. Need I say more? If you would prefer your lobster hibachi style, they’ve got that too! And for all you landlubbers out there, there’s plenty of steak and chicken on the menu too.
Lobster meat+ crab meat+ ravioli +brandy sauce + tomato confit = Max’s Oyster Bar’s famous lobster dish. This equation is a no brainer! Stroll down the lively streets of vibrant West Hartford Center while you wait for a table at this state fave (yes, there will be a wait). An award winning design, elegant atmosphere and, of course, the food have raw bar aficionados in lust (and love).
