We've grown so accustomed to seeing four-inch-and-higher heels in fashion shoots and advertisements (or, let's face it, worn by ridiculously stylish women hobbling across the street downtown) that it's tough sometimes to remember that heels might present a dangerous risk.

Thusly, more than a few fashionistas may be rethinking their footwear choices after news broke this morning that footwear maven Charles David has been forced to recall 2,300 pairs of high heels sold at Nordstrom because, apparently, the heels on said shoes may detach. Can you imagine stepping off a corner in five-inch stilettos and suddently, the heel on one of the shoes you're wearing actually detaches? The resulting twisted ankle or slow-motion spill would no doubt be a sight to behold.

The recall was initiated after a report surfaced of a heel detaching from one frustrated customer, who'd suffered minor brusing from the incident. Anyone who may be affected by the recall can return the heels to any Nordstrom location for a full refund. Though nothing more serious has yet been reported, frankly the whole thing is making us reconsider wearing our Loeffler Randall four-inchers on Saturday night. We love them, but are they worth the risk?
