Coco Rocha and Mizrahi have a love affair to remember this Fall

Somewhere in Times Square, across from the Midwestern frat boys making obscene gestures in pictures and the Red Lobster, Isaac Mizrahi, the highly-anticipated creative director at Liz Claiborne, and his fearless team of Internet-savvy marketeers were plotting a chic event to infiltrate the blogger community. An intimate event, with a "mock-umentary screening" simultaneously featuring the production of their Fall ad campaign set somewhere in suburbia, the stunning Coco Rocha, the search for a lost poodle named Lucy, and of course, the hilarious Isaac, himself. So Wednesday night, when we were invited to attend this event, we were obviously hooked by the bait: the promise of Crumbs cupcakes and pails of Dylan's Candy Bar sweets along side U'Luvka cocktails.

The ever-fabulous, Karen Robinovitz, creator of Purple Lab and countless publications and new media initiatives in the fashion and beauty industries, played hostess and greeted guests while Isaac charmed the room in his snarky all-black ensemble, complete with athletic flops and a red bandanna. He has a repertoire most designers would die for -- his budget collection made Target into Targé and still appeals to the Bendels and Bergdorf crowd, starred in a successful '90s big-budget model movie, written his guide to style, and even appeared as a guest judge on Food Network's Iron Chef -- and Mizrahi's collection for Liz Claiborne this fall even makes a trip to the grocery store seem more glam.

Isaac's Liz is not the Liz your mother loved, with twin sets and pinstripe and paisley print, but is spotted, striped, and splashed with all your favorite primary and secondary colors of the rainbow and their bold geometric four-leaf clover logo. Suiting sailor stripes with gold buttons and modern-fit dark denim with contrast stitching is paired with classic pieces, like the perfect length trench and smart and slim plaids. LC may be still targeting its traditionally older crowd, but with Isaac in charge, we may find ourselves borrowing from our elders quite more than we'd like to admit.
