Irene Zalevsky says she always wanted to say thanks to those who serve our country in the military. So she was thrilled when she found out her bridal shop, Camille Bridal Couture of West Hartford, was picked as the one shop in the entire state to work with the Brides Across America organization to give away free gowns to military brides.

Starting at 11 a.m. this Veterans Day, about 30 gowns will be waiting for military brides to come, try on and take home. Zalevsky says she can’t wait.  “Whatever we can do to change someone’s day, to make it a little better, we’ll definitely take that opportunity.”

Some of the gowns are samples, some are brand-new, and they range from mermaid styles to ballgowns, strapless to two–piece.

The brides must be engaged, be on active duty in the military, or have a fiance on active duty in either Iraq or Afghanistan. All military brides must show ID, copy of deployment papers, orders or other qualifying proof.

Zalevsky says her staff is ready and looks forward to meeting the brides.

“It’s just touching, and they’re grateful for our gratitude.”

The shop is located at 30 LaSalle Road in West Hartford.
