Just a shave: Salons are feeling the pinch in fancy Greenwich.

The recession is taking its toll, even in wealthy Greenwich, where spa and salon owners say customers are cutting back on luxuries like facials, manicures and pedicures.

Day spas and salons are reporting declines in business by as much as 70 percent in Greenwich. The New York bedroom community is one of the nation's wealthiest towns.

They say people are making fewer visits or going without spa services entirely.

Despite the slowdown, many owners say they believe their loyal customers will keep them afloat. They say spa and salon services are important for people who believe keeping an attractive physical appearance is a top priority.
