Another Day, Another '15 Commitment

This could become a daily feature: Two weeks after not having a single player committed to the class of 2015, the UConn football program has been on a roll. The latest: Linebacker Connor Freeborn (Wilmington, DE) made an oral commitment Wednesday.

The 2015 class now has six members. Freeborn joins Marshe Terry (New Jersey), who can play wide receiver and defensive back; Kevin Murphy, a defensive lineman from West Chester, Penn.; Tyler Davis, a quarterback from North Bellmore, N.Y.; tight end Ben Hartwick (Mahwah, N.J.) and 6-5, 260-pound defensive end Philippe Okounam (St. Paul's School -- N.H.).

Freeborn, like the five previous commitments, fits first-year coach Bob Diaco's recruiting footprint.

“We are going to recruit our footprint like it’s our home state," the coach said recently. "New York, all five boroughs. Massachusetts completely, Eastern Pennsylvania to Northern Virginia — a round semi-circle, portion of Virginia, D.C. and up to Baltimore then Delaware and straight up the coast, which is whole state of New Jersey.”

So far, so good.
