Brianna Banks Out For Season With Torn ACL

UConn guard Brianna Banks suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday's game against St. John's.

Banks, a sophomore, will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the season, according to the university.

"I am extremely disappointed for Brianna," Geno Auriemma said in a statement released by UConn. "She had shown great improvement and has been a big part of our success to this season. I know she will work extremely hard to get back on the floor as soon as possible."

Banks was averaging 7.3 points and 1.7 assists this season. She will have surgery in the next few weeks and then will begin rehabilitation.
