Donors Save UConn Parade

The UConn men will get their parade after all.

The parade was in jeopardy of being canceled if parade organizers could not raise $25,000 and it was a nail biter for the people putting the event together.

As of Wednesday afternoon, they had only reached half of their goal, but everything came together on Thursday when the Hartford Business Improvement District and the MetroHartford Alliance came forward with the rest of the money.

The parade will start at 3 p.m. on Sunday from the Connecticut State Capitol Building and end at the Capitol Building for an outdoor rally. The team will travel the route atop a double-decker bus. See the full parade route here.

In past years, the business community has paid for victory events and no state or city funds have been used, according to organizers.

Over the last 24 hours, several companies and individuals offered financial support and 19 corporations, businesses, organizations and individuals made donations through the fundraising campaign.
