Football Adds 8th Commitment to '15 Class

Days after getting a commitment from 6-6 receiver Aaron McLean, the Huskies bolstered their passing-catching corps with another big target, 6-5, 225-pound tight end Ian Campbell of Pequamnock Township (Pompton Plains, N.J.).

Campbell visited UConn earlier this month, and he also visited Rutgers, which is close to his New Jersey home. Ultimately, he settled on the Huskies because first-year coach Bob Diaco and his staff did such a great job of selling Campbell on the school and the program.

"I liked the school and campus," Campbell said, via the Hartford Courant. "The coaching staff at UConn was great, they made me feel welcome. They really wanted me there. The facilities, the weight room, locker room, were really impressive."

Campbell now joins a 2015 class that runs eight deep and includes commitments from TE Aaron McLean, QB Tyler Davis, DT Kevin Murphy, OLB Connor Freeborn, DE Phillipe Okunam, S Marshe Terry and TE Ben Hartwick.
