Ollie's Mantra for 2013-14: ‘I Will, I Can, I Must'

UConn coach Kevin Ollie was the guest speaker at Tuesday's Middlesex Chamber Of Commerce breakfast and he spoke passionately about the upcoming season. Not surprisingly, he has high expectations for a team that beat the odds and won 20 games last season. And this time, there will be no postseason NCAA bans.

"We're not chasing national championships," he said via the Hartford Courant, "national championships are chasing us."

And the motto this season? "I will, I Can, I must."

Ollie also announced that seniors Niels Giffey and Shabazz Napier will be team captains, and weighed in on another senior, forward Tyler Olander, who was recently reinstated following a suspension after several run-ins with authorities during the offseason.

"I told Tyler, 'Don't take it for granted, it's a privilege to put this jersey on,' "he said. "He's made some bad judgments, but I'm not going to give up on him."

The Huskies' officially kick off the 2013-14 season on Friday, Oct. 18 at the First Night festivities.
