UConn Field Hockey Wins National Championship

It's the first national title for UConn field hockey in 28 years

The UConn field hockey team beat Duke on Sunday, to win its first NCAA National Championship in 28 years.

The Huskies scored twice in the first half, and it was all they needed to defeat the Blue Devils 2-0 in Norfolk, Virginia. It is UConn's third national title in field hockey.

Chloe Hunnable and McKenzie Townsend scored the goals for UConn Sunday afternoon.

Duke tried to mount a comeback, but UConn senior goaltender, Sarah Mansfield blanked the Blue Devils.

Marie Elena Bolles, Chloe Hunnable, Roisin Upton, Chrissy Davidson, and Sarah Mansfield were all named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, according to the UConn Athletics website.

UConn also won the National Championship in field hockey in 1981 and 1985.
