UConn-Syracuse to Renew Rivalry

Syracuse would come to Rentschler Field in 2016 and the Huskies would travel to upstate New York in 2018 for the return trip.

UConn and Syracuse last played football in 2012, when both were members of the Big East Conference. The Orange has since moved on to the AAC while the Huskies are now in the AAC.

But the two old rivals will be reuniting again on the gridiron over the coming years, according to ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy.

The details: Syracuse would come to Rentschler Field in 2016 and the Huskies would travel to upstate New York in 2018 for the return trip.

Syracuse will not meet its ACC power conference scheduling requirement with this series, but the requirement has already been met for 2016 with Notre Dame in MetLife Stadium and 2018 against the Irish in South Bend.

UConn leads the all-time series over Syracuse, 6-3.

According to SNY.com's John Silver, the Huskies' schedules are now set for 2016 and 2017 with two games needed in each of the 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons. "There is also a yet to be scheduled home-and-home series with Tennessee," Silver writes. "The game were agreed too long before the conference realignment circus and while the contracts remain in place, the dates are TBD."
