UConn Women Unveil Non-Conference Schedule

The UConn women's basketball team unveiled their 2014-15 non-conference schedule Friday. It includes 12 games, highlighted by matchups with long-time rivals Stanford and Notre Dame.

Of the 12 games, four are at home, three on the road and five at a neutral site.

After two exhibition games against Division II teams -- Nov. 1 vs. West Chester University (coach Geno Auriemma's alma mater) and Nov. 9 vs. Post University -- the Huskies will face UC Davis in its preseason opener on Nov. 14.

Then, three days later, it's on to Stanford in a rematch of last year's Final Four game, which UConn won going away, 75-56, on its way to its ninth national title. The Cardinals finished last season ranked No. 6 in the country.

The home opener is set for Nov. 23 when Creighton comes to town. Then it's down to Florida over Thanksgiving to take part in the Gulf Coast Showcase. UConn opens the event against the College of Charleston on Nov. 28.

On Dec. 6, the Huskies are off to South Bend to face one of the few teams that has consistently given them trouble in recent years. Former Big East member Notre Dame will be their opponent in the Jimmy V Classic in a game that will be televised on ESPN.

Two weeks later, on Dec. 21, the Huskies face UCLA at the Mohegan Sun Arena as part of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Women's Holiday Showcase. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

Eight days later, UConn hosts Duke, who finished last season ranked ninth in the country.

Other games include DePaul (Dec. 19), St. John's (Jan. 4), and South Carolina (Feb. 9).
