Adrian Beltre's team, the Texas Rangers, are holding a steady lead over the Oakland Athletics in the American League West. If the Rangers end up choking and not making the playoffs this year, Beltre can at least rest easy knowing 2012 wasn't entirely unsuccessful.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Texas third baseman recently sold his four-acre-plus estate in Bradbury, Calif., for $17.4 million.

Beltre, a former Los Angeles Dodger, has been trying to sell the grand property for two years, originally listing it for $19.8 million. The Mediterranean mansion boasts 16,600 square feet, seven bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, and a 35-foot high entryway with a painted ceiling.

Beltre's former digs is located off a circular driveway in a 24-hour gate-guarded community.

Outdoor amenities abound with a 1,300-square-foot cabana and kitchen, infinity pool, tennis court, basketball court, and two tees and two putting greens with sand traps.

The cherry on top is Beltre's 2,500-square-foot rec room outfitted as a batting cage.

On second thought, if the Rangers don't make the playoffs, Beltre won't be able to retreat to his lavish home, though we're guessing the extra $17.4 million might help temper that disappointment.
