All the principles are in place for "Sherlock Holmes 2" now that Jarred Harris has been cast as Professor Moriarty, the great detective's arch nemesis.
Harris, son of the great Richard Harris, has played Lane Pryce on the last two seasons of "Mad Men" and is a fine actor in his own respect. Whille he lacks the star power of the other names mentioned, his manner and bearing are a perfect fit for the hyper-intellectual British criminal mastermind whom Holmes has called the "Napolean of Crime."
The casting of Moriarty comes hot on the heels of news that Stephen Fry will be playing Homes' older brother Mycroft. Earlier this year Noomi Rapace was announced to be starring as well in an unspecified role.
In addition to "SH2," Harris was also just cast in the remake of "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy," alongside Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hands and Colin Firth.
Both "Holmes" and "Tinker" are due out next year.
