Cue the Spanx Jokes, “Bridget Jones 3” Gets the Green Light

Seven years after a poorly received second installment and six years since Renee Zellweger was in anything anyone cared about, Bridget Jones is coming back for thirds.

The rumors about another "Bridget Jones," which have come and gone for years, started heating up again earlier this year with word that "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig was in talks to helm. Now they've finally been confirmed by EW.

Last year, before he was an Oscar-minted thespian, Colin Firth gave away pretty much the entirety of the film:

“I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can’t have children, I think that’s the way it goes on,” Firth told Access Hollywood. “So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver [Hugh Grant's character] for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she’s left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?”

Well it's good to hear that Bridget's learned from her past, pumped up her self-esteem and is continuing to make good choices. Well done, can't wait.

Firth appears to be open to the project, but they'd better wrap him up quick, 'cuz that guy's career has taken off since "Edge of Reason," and shows no signs of slowing down. He's about to be seen in the new "Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy" and next year will star in a new version of "Gambit." As for Zellweger and Hugh Grant, we imagine they can probably find time in their hectic schedules.
