Now, Hurricane Irma has impacted millions of people in Florida, leaving many without a place to call home, picking up the pieces after this historic storm.

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 4-7 p.m., you can help during our “Relief For Irma” event. We’ll be broadcasting live from the NBC Connecticut studios taking your calls and monetary donations.

Donations go to the American Red Cross Hurricane Irma fund, which has dispatched volunteers to the hard-hit areas, assisting with food, shelter and resources for rebuilding after Hurricane Irma.

An estimated 208,000 people sought shelter from Irma at government and Red Cross centers across 6 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  There are an estimated 200,000 people at shelters in Florida.  More than 1,800 Red Cross workers have responded to areas impacted by Irma with 400 more volunteers headed there.
