Burn Notice star Jeffrey Donovan insisted he was not drunk when he swerved to avoid hitting a police car last week on Miami Beach.
No, he was just buzzed off Benadryl. And three glasses of wine. Enough to make him fail a sobriety test.
Donovan told police he had three glasses of wine at the Fontainebleau.
“The only mistake I made tonight was drinking Benadryl with 3 glasses of wine,” he told police as he was being led away on DUI charges.
Benadryl, an antihistamine, is known to cause drowsiness.
According to the police report, Donovan was driving his black 2009 Audi coupe on July 12 when he came upon a police car stopped at a red light at 23rd Street and Pine Tree Drive at 11:30 p.m.
He then came to a screeching halt and swerved to avoid hitting the cop car.
The officer said Donovan had bloodshot eyes and reeked of booze.
Despite all this, he told the cop that he wasn’t too drunk, “only borderline.”
Hate to see how he acts when he is really lit.
