Dustin Hoffman Saves U.K. Jogger's Life

The Oscar-winning "Rain Man" actor played Good Samaritan at a London park.

Oscar-winning actor Dustin Hoffman can add another celebrated role to his filmography: Good Samaritan.

The "Rain Man" and "Tootsie" star reportedly saved the life of a British jogger who suffered a heart attack while exercising in a London park.

Sam Dempster, 27, was running in the city's central Hyde Park when he suddenly collapsed, The Sun newspaper reported. Hoffman, who has a house in London and happened to be walking nearby at the time, phoned the emergency services and waited with Dempster until the medics came to the scene.

"I want to say 'Thank you' to Dustin Hoffman. He saved my life," Dempster told the newspaper.

Dempster also thanked the hospital staff who treated him and the first-responder medics, who used CPR and electric shocks to jumpstart his heart.

Dempster reportedly cannot recall the exact details of what happened, but was informed of the actor's good deed by the medics, Martin Macarthur and Luke Sullivan.

"Dustin was fascinated. He seemed impressed we'd got this guy back so quickly," Macarthur told The Sun. "When we were carrying the patient into the ambulance he walked up and said 'Great job, guys.' He really appreciated what had happened."

Dempster is expected to make a full recovery.
