No Joke: Comic Giraldo Hospitalized Following Overdose

"Last Comic Standing" judge in critical condition

Comedian Greg Giraldo, a judge on "Last Comic Standing" and a frequently seen personality on Comedy Central, suffered a drug overdose and is in a New Jersey hospital in critical condition.

The Queens-born comic, who recently helped roast David Hasselhoff on Comedy Central, was found unresponsive during a party at his hotel in East Brunswick. He was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Saturday, according to the New York Post.

"It was an accidental overdose, and he is in critical condition," a source at Giraldo's management company, The Collective, told the New York Post. Sources said he appears to have overdosed on prescription pills.

Giraldo, a 44-year-old father of four, and recovering alcoholic, was staying at the hotel while performing a four-night stand at the Stress Factory comedy club in New Brunswick. Club goers were told at the Saturday night show that Giraldo would be scrapped from the bill.
