Arnold Schwarzenegger Got Chased by an Elephant on African Safari

Arnold Schwarzenegger has played the Terminator and villainous Mr. Freeze, but that didn't stop him from being terrified when a safari encounter left him and his fellow passengers shaken.

The former California governor was on safari in South Africa when he and his pals came across a large elephant. Their SUV stopped in the middle of the road and the elephant approached them. The massive gray animal then investigated their vehicle with its tusks. At one point, he started to back away.

"Is he backing up because of the engine?" one passenger asked.

"No, he's going to charge us," Schwarzenegger predicted.

At first, it seemed like the elephant starts to walk away from the car, but it would turn out the "Kindergarten Cop" prediction was correct. The driver of their vehicle was forced to put to the pedal to the metal because the elephant starts to chase them down. Fortunately, no one was hurt and they were able to get away.

Despite leaving everyone shaken, the elephant still received praise from Schwarzenegger.

"I couldn't have written this safari encounter better if it was a movie," Schwarzenegger wrote in the caption of his video. "I'm absolutely in awe of these beautiful, strong animals, even though some of us had to change our pants after this."

He also shared a strong message in favor of conservation. "We need to stop killing them - take a photo, not a shot," he added.
