Carrie Fisher Says She Will Be Back as Princess Leia in Next Star Wars Movie

Here's hoping the Force is strong with this bit of news.

While giving an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, Carrie Fisher was asked point-blank if she could confirm that she would be reprising her role as Princess Leia in the seventh Star Wars film.

"Yes," the actress said matter-of-factly.

Sounds like a confirmation, right?

Of course, Fisher did joke (we assume) about what Leia would be like today, saying with a laugh, "Elderly. She's in an intergalactic old folks' home. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle."

What's more, she added that her character's fashion sense hasn't changed much, noting that Leia's still wearing "the bagel buns and the bikini, because probably she has sundowners syndrome. At sundown, she think that she's twentysomething. And she put it on and gets institutionalized."

As for whether Fisher will indeed be costarring in the next installment or was simply playing with the media, time will tell. Right now, it's her word against, well, nobody's, as there's been no official comment yet from her rep or the studio.
