Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman have confirmed they have separated after almost three years of marriage and add they are making their kids their top priority.
The 41-year-old actress and her husband are parents to daughters Olive, 3, and Frankie, who will turn 2 later this month. Following news of their split Friday, the two issued a statement Saturday.
"Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family," the pair said in a statement posted by People. "Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on. "Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority."
A source had told E! News the two "are living separately" and that "over the past few months, things seem to be up and down with the couple."
News of the split came a day after Barrymore revealed she had gotten a tattoo of Olive and Frankie's names on her arm. In a photo posted on Instagram, she appeared to be in good spirits. On Thursday, Barrymore appeared to enjoy some time shopping alone in Beverly Hills.
She has also been active on Instagram, where she occasionally posts pictures of her and Kopelman's daughters. However, her husband has been notably absent from her page for months--he last appeared in a photo of the couple in June, in honor of their wedding anniversary.
Barrymore and Kopelman married in June 2012. This marked her third marriage. She and first husband Jeremy Thomas were married for less than a year until 1995. Barrymore wed actor and comedian Tom Green in July 2001 and the two ended their marriage in October 2002.
