Julia Louis-Dreyfus Gives Emotional Tribute to Deceased Father After Emmy Win

The 'Veep' star dedicated her win to her recently deceased father

Julia Louis-Dreyfus broke an Emmy record Sunday night and broke hearts at the same time.

By winning lead actress in a comedy series for the fifth time in a row for "Veep," Louis-Dreyfus' total number of Emmy's in the category climbed to six, breaking the record she shared with Candice Bergen and Mary Tyler Moore. She also won for her role in "The New Adventures of Old Christine."

But her win paled in wake of her acceptance speech, in which the actress gave a heartfelt tribute to her recently deceased father.

"I'd like to dedicate this to my father William Louis-Dreyfus who passed away on Friday," the actress said as she struggled for words. "I'm so glad that he liked me because his opinion was the one that really mattered."
