Ellen DeGeneres has turned her dancing shoes toward China.
Warner Bros., which produces and distributes "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," announced it has struck a deal with Sohu Video to carry the daytime talk fest in China. Episodes will be subtitled in Chinese and available 48 hours after they air in the U.S.
"It's basically the same show, just with subtitles, and it will be called 'The Happy Lady Dance Hour,'" joked DeGeneres on her show Tuesday (see video above).
Warner Bros. said the deal makes DeGeneres' program the first U.S. daily talk show to be distributed in China.
“‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ is one of the most well-known talk shows in the U.S., and we believe it could also have strong appeal and relevance with the Chinese audience.,” said Sohu Chairman and Chief Executive Charles Zhang.
"Ellen has clearly differentiated herself and her talk show from so many of the controversial conflict-oriented talk shows as it has become an increasingly positive alternative in daytime featuring the biggest stars from worlds of film, television and music," said Jeffrey Schlesinger, president of Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution.
DeGeneres is set to host the Academy Awards on Mar. 2.
