Only a few days prior to Miley Cyrus making "twerk" a topic of national conversation thanks to her performance at the MTV VMAs, rapper Juicy J tweeted that he would award a $50,000 scholarship "to the best chick that can twerk."

That tweet was quickly deleted.

While the news of a "twerking" scholarship proved to be untrue, on Wednesday Juicy J (real name Joradan Houston) announced that he and the website WorldStarHipHop.com have launched a $50,000 scholarship competition open to females between the ages of 18 and 25 who are enrolled in a two-to-four year accredited college or university program. No twerking required to win.

The "How to Enter" information on the website begins with the word "Ladies" in capital letters  (guys: this competition isn't for you) and states that those wishing to compete must post a YouTube video set to Juicy J's "Scholarship" explaining why they deserve the prize.

"Contestants will be judged on their assets and creativity," a press release for the competition noted.

Regarding last week's "twerking" announcement (which drew ire from some members of the Hip Hop community), a spokesperson for 38-year-old J told USA Today that the rapper, "prematurely spoke about the contest before it was ready to launch."

Juicy J and the group Three 6 Mafia won the Best Original Song Academy Award in 2006 for "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" from the film "Hustle & Flow." J’s debut album includes collaborations with Justin Timberlake, A$AP Rocky, Chris Brown and Big Sean. He is is also featured on Katy Perry’s next single “Darkhorse.”
