Police Shut Down Jerry Seinfeld's Lemonade Stand: Report

No lemonade for you!

That's what the cops had to tell several people who had allegedly illegally parked cars around a roadside lemonade stand set up by comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his family last week in East Hampton Village, according to the community news website 27east.com.

The "Seinfeld" star and his family had set up the lemonade stand on Aug. 18 to raise money for his wife's charity, Baby Buggy. At least one neighbor called police after seeing the attention the lemonade stand was drawing, and police came and shut the operation down, 27east.com reports.

Village police told the family that it was against the law to operate a lemonade stand because village code prohibits all forms of street peddling, according to 27east.com.

Police say a suspect was high on meth when he destroyed an Alabama gas station. WSFA’s Lindsey Rogers reports.

The family had more humor about the encounter than Seinfeld's TV character had during neighborly spats with Newman, however.

Seinfeld's wife, Jessica, posted a photo to Instagram showing the comic, their son, Julian, and a couple of Julian's friends standing with their hands behind their head near a village police cruiser.

"Lemonade dreams crushed by local neighbor, but not before raising lots of money for @loverecycled," she wrote. "Thanks to all of our customers and big tippers!"
