Madonna Films Video Apology, Misses Point Again

Madonna? Seriously? You're only making this worse.

Last week, while debuting her feature film directing debut "W.E." at the Venice Film Festival (to mostly abysmal reviews), Madonna was handed some flowers by a fan before a press conference. Video then caught the Material Girl rolling her eyes before dropping the flowers on the ground and muttering "I absolutely loathe hydrangeas. He obviously doesn't know that."

Naturally, the internet caught the video and the incident quickly caught massive amounts of attention.

Madonna's publicist issued a statement on the singer's behalf last week that was notable for completely missing the point:

“She’s entitled to like any flower she wants," wrote the rep. "And she didn’t want to hurt the feeling of the hydrangeas of the world. No disrespect to the hydrangeas lovers of the world but she prefers different types of flowers.”

Note to publicist: People were not ripping into Madonna over her personal choice of flowers. It was more the unbelievably rude, entitled, and dismissive behavior she showed towards a fan's moment of sweet appreciation.

Finally, Madonna herself is addressing the issue. Surely she'll clarify the statement and apologize for her incredibly boorish act.

Nope. Madonna takes the statement's missing of the point and ups the ante with a snarky silent film spoof that "apologizes" to....hydrangeas.

And the world collectively puts its face in its hands and shakes its head.
