Billy Corgan On Jessica Simpson: She's ‘Worth Loving'

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman doesn't want to put a label on his relationship

Billy Corgan doesn't want to put a label on his relationship with Jessica Simpson.

"If I go, 'Oh, we're just friends,' then it's like, 'Did they go out, did he dump her or she dump him, what happened?'" he explained to Rolling Stone.

"It has nothing to do with any of that. Sometimes people just like being around each other, and good things come out of that. My goal in life is to love whoever I think is worth loving, and I think if people knew her like I knew her, they would love her like I do. It's really simple," he added.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman previously told the Chicago Tribune that reports that he had dated – and subsequently split from – the "The Price of Beauty" star were far from "reality."

"The stuff that I've seen doesn't have any bearing to the reality that I'm in," he told the paper in February, neither confirming nor denying their rumored love connection. "It's like being in a cartoon. It has nothing to do with what's really going on or how I feel."

Reports that the two were dating emerged in December, when a source told E! Online that Jessica was "smitten" with the alternative rock icon.

Jessica later Tweeted about their time in the studio working on "The Price of Beauty" theme song.

"Fun to be lost in laughter," she Tweeted at the time. "I am blessed."

However, in January, Us Weekly reported that the two had split.
