Whitney Houston said her heartbroken mother sicced armed cops on her in a desperate bid to rescue the singer from a drug-induced downward spiral.
In a blockbuster interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Grammy Award-winning pop icon reveals the details of her sordid past with drugs including when her mother ambushed her at home, whisked her off to rehab and threatened to call the cops on the singer's then-husband Bobby Brown if he did anything to stop her, according to the New York Daily News.
"I'm not losing you to the world," Houston said her mom, Cissy, told her when she showed up at the singer's house with armed officers. "I have a court injunction here. You're either going to do it my way, or we're just not going to do it at all."
"She said, 'If you move, Bobby, they're going to take you down.'"
Before Houston was whisked off to rehab in 2004, the singer said her mother thought she was "losing her to Satan" and begged her to quit her illustrious music career.
The admission of drug use contradicts Houston's past public statements -- including when she infamously denied using crack during an interview with Diane Sawyer.
"I make too much money to smoke crack" she said in the 2002 interview. "Crack in wack."
Houston has begun what is being billed as her comeback tour. She just released her first album in six years -- "I Look to You" -- though she may have hit a sour note with some fans during her highly anticipated debut.
Her voice cracked and she had difficulty hitting the high notes during her comeback performance in Central Park for "Good Morning America" earlier this month. She blamed the slip-up on spending too much time chatting it up with Oprah.
"I'm so sorry. ... I talked so much, my voice," Houston told the crowd.
