Rob McElhenney, star of of the FX comedy It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, is packing on the pounds for the show's upcoming season 7, premiering this fall. People Magazine reports he's already gained 50 pounds in an attempt to be goofier, at the cost of his health.

"It's been disgusting to watch him go through with this adventure," McElhenney's costar Charlie Day told Screen Junkies. He also expressed concern over the 34-year-old's well being, though he also thinks McElhenney has actually become funnier with the extra weight.

In general, the cast of It's Always Sunny is rail-thin, except for Danny Devito. But McElhenney, who welcomed a baby with wife and It's Always Sunny costar, is giving Devito a run for his money.
