Head to Danbury for the Chili Challenge

Preparations underway for Chili Winter Warm-up in Danbury

Now that we're in the teeth of winter, there's not much better to warm us up than a nice big steaming bowl of chili. But do you go for beans, or no beans? Mild, medium or spicy?

On Sunday, Feb. 10, all tastes will be represented at the fourth annual Chili Winter Warm-up in Danbury.

The event is being hosted by the Danbury Westerners, CityCenter Danbury and Danbury Arena.

To help get your appetite in gear, the day begins with the "Big Chili" 5K run

There will also be entertainment from the Mad Hatters Barbershop Chorus, Sparky the Dog (Danbury’s Fire Department’s mascot), Marty the Magician, as well as games, a public skate and arts & crafts for the whole family.

Oh yeah, we can't forget about the main event; the chili cook-off, which will feature entries from area restaurants and caterers as well as organizations and individuals.

Nearly $1,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded in categories like "most creative," "most enthusiastic," "most entertaining" and best decor.

The deadline to enter is Feb. 4.  Call 203-790-8324 or email Kay.Schreiber@sbcglobal.net for entry requirements.
