George Takei will be in Connecticut this weekend as one of the featured speakers at ConnectiCon.
Takei, who best known for his role as Mr. Sulu in Star Trek, should be a big draw for the already-popular convention, which features a wide array of pop culture -- board games, cosplay, sci-fi, comics and more, and brings in people from all over the country.
ConnectiCon’s roots began to grow at the University of Hartford. In 2002, a group of friends involved in the Science Fiction and Fantasy Guild decided to start their own convention after taking several trips across the country to attend them.
Others guests include Sarah Lancaster, who played Ellie Bartowski in “Chuck,” Raven Moreau, in “Witches of the East End,” Rachel Meyers, in “Saved by the Bell: The New Class,” Madison Kellner in “Everwood.”
Several actor and actresses from the “Power Rangers” TV shows and films, including David Yost, Karan Ashley, Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy, will also be featured at the convention.
It event, held at the Connecticut Convention Center, as well as the Hartford Marriott Downtown Hartford Hilton, runs from July 9 through 12.
