Romantics and The Smithereens to Play Free Concert in Hamden

The lineup for the Hamden free summer concerts series is out and the Romantics and The Smithereens are two of the acts expected.

The summer concert series takes place at Town Center Park, at 2761 Dixwell Ave.

The series kicks off on Friday, July 1 with Hamden’s Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks Display. The Hamden Symphony Orchestra will play from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and D.J. Bry will entertain before and after concert. Fireworks are at 9:30 p.m. The rain date is July 2.

On Friday, July 8, enjoy Temptations Review, featuring Dennis Edwards, who became a member of The Temptations in 1968, This group will perform “My Girl,” “Get Ready,” “Ain't Too Proud to Beg,” “Since I Lost My Baby” and “The Way You Do the Things You Do.”

On Friday, July 15, Eric Burdon and the Animals perform. He will perform “House of the Rising Sun,” “Sky Pilot,” “We Gotta Get Out of this Place,

“Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood” and “Bring It on Home to Me.”

On Friday, July 22, head back in time and enjoy rock of the 80s with The Romantics & The Smithereens. The Smithereens, will bring “Only a Memory,” “A Girl Like You,” “Blood and Roses,” “Blues Before and After” and “Top of the Pops.” The Romantics will perform hits including “What I Like About You,” “Talking in Your Sleep,” ”When I look in Your Eyes and Rock You Up.”

On Friday, July 29, the Marshall Tucker Band will perform. Their hits include “Can't You See,” “Heard It in a Love Song,” “Fire on the Mountain” and “Take the Highway. “

On Friday, Aug. 5, Tramps Like Us, a Springsteen tribute band, will perform.

Food is available site. Opening acts often start at 7:30 p.m. and headliners play at 8:15 p.m., except on August 5.
