Former State Trooper First Class Jeffrey LaPorto is facing new sexual assault charges, but documents show the problems with LaPorto may have started years ago.
State police released LaPorto's four internal affairs reports to the NBC Connecticut Troubleshooters following a Freedom of Information request.
LaPorto was arrested earlier this year in Windsor Locks on charges that he sexually assaulted an 81-year-old woman. His attorney has said the sex was consensual.
A number of the reports state police shared with the NBC Connecticut Troubleshooters document how he approached women and made them uncomfortable, investigators found on a number of occasions.
Incidents took place in Windsor, Plainville and Southington, according to the reports, which say he was on the job and in his cruiser during some of them.
LaPorto was also arrested in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, in 2010 and charged with reckless driving. The reports say he belittled officers who pulled him over and told them "they better hope they never get stopped by him and that they should never come through Connecticut."
LaPorto was suspended in 2008 and terminated from the Connecticut State Police in 2010.
He was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of frist-degree unlawful restraint in June and has been ordered not to contact the victim.
The NBC Connecticut Troubleshooters were unsuccessful in reaching him for comment on Monday.
