21 people are displaced after a fire ripped through an East Hartford apartment complex.
Twenty-one people were displaced after a fire damaged several units in an apartment complex in East Hartford Saturday.
Firefighters responded to 12 Bell Court around 3:30 p.m. after receiving numerous 911 calls for a structure fire at a three-story apartment complex. Fire officials say that the fire began on a porch on the third floor.
It took firefighters about an hour to knockdown the blaze, said fire officials, which damaged six of the complex's 24 units, causing heavy smoke, water and fire damage to those units.
The American Red Cross is providing temporary shelter and financial assistance for emergency clothing and food needs for those families displaced by the fire, said Paul Shipman Red Cross spokesperson.
No one was hurt or injured in the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
