Budget Hits Bargain Shoppers Too

It would cost more to get a bargain.

Bargain shoppers have a bone to pick with Gov. Dannel Malloy's budget proposal to end a sales tax exemption for coupons and discounts.

That means, shoppers would be charged sales tax based on the original price of an item and not its sale price.

Residents will get the chance to question Malloy about his proposed budget during a series of town hall meetings.

The next one will be held on Wednesday in New London at Jennings Elementary School, from 7 p.m to 8 p.m.
