Two big conventions are in Hartford this weekend, which means a big boost for business during a typically quiet holiday weekend.

The Church of Pentecost is back for the second time celebrating their Easter services at the convention center. Prayer services kicked off Friday at 7pm. Nearly 4,000 worshipers from all over New England are in town for the event.

“When we come here we get such great hospitality. We love Hartford. We love the reception we get here and we couldn’t wait to come back to this beautiful convention center,” said Janice Sykes-Ross, a member of the Church of Pentecost.

The members of the church, along with its prayer services and culture come from Ghana on the west coast of Africa. Also at the Convention Center this weekend, the FIRST Robotics Competition. Thousands of kids from all over the world are pitting their robots against other robots!

“Its been a huge part of my life for the last 3 years. I love the robotics competition and I love working with my friends. Its just been a lot of fun,” said Matt Crossman of Farmington High School.

The kids downstairs will show off their science, while the folks upstairs show off their faith. Both conventions are helping to revive Hartford business during a traditionally slow Easter weekend.

You can attend either event this weekend for free.
