Electric Boat Awarded $429.1 Million Contract

Award given by the U.S. Navy

Congressman Joe Courtney announced on Friday the Groton-based Electric Boat has been awarded a $429.1 contract from the U.S. Navy. The funds will be used for modification for design, planning, and technical support for the Navy's active nuclear submarines.

"This comes on the heels of yesterday's testimony by Secretary of Defense Panetta that he regards our submarine fleet as 'indispensable,'" said Congressman Courtney. "EB has repeatedly demonstrated that they can do the work asked of them on time and without costly overruns. This is tremendous news for EB, our local economy and our region."

Courtney stated that the contract will be incrementally funded, with 73 percent of the work being performed in Groton.
