Supplies are needed in Haiti. Here's how you can help.
There are several ways to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
The Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross says the best way to help is with financial donations. The agency is accepting donations on-line, over the phone and via text-message. For more information click here. You can also track state-by-state giving here.
For text message donations to the Red Cross, text HAITI to "90999." A $10 donation will be charged to your mobile phone bill; additional charges may apply from your cell phone provider. The American Red Cross is not accepting volunteers to travel to Haiti at this time.
Yele Haiti, the organization founded by Wycleaf Jean, is accepting donations by text as well. Click here for more information or text YELE to 501501 to donate $5.
You can support the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation by clicking here, or texting HAITI to 20222 to donate $10.
Families trying to reach loved ones in Haiti should contact the U.S. State Department at 888-407-4747.
Locally, the N.A.A.C.P. is collecting donations, as well. More information is available in this article.
Also, Save the Children, headquartered in Westport is heading a massive relief effort for victims of the earthquake. For more information go to their Web site.
