Judge Jon Blue said at a hearing Thursday it's inappropriate to show trial evidence to prospective jurors.
Attorneys for Joshua Komisarjevsky said the photos would help evaluate if emotions would affect jurors' ability to serve impartially.
Prosecutors had objected, saying it's unclear what photos will be shown during the trial and that courts routinely deny such requests.
Komisarjevsky is charged with killing Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her two daughters, Hayley, 17, and Michaela, 11, during a home invasion in 2007 in Cheshire.
Jury selection starts March 16. His co-defendant, Steven Hayes, was convicted and sentenced to death last year.
