Infant Taken to Hospital After Fall

Child fell about a foot and a half.

An infant boy was taken by Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital after falling at Tolland High School on Thursday afternoon.

The boy, who is less than 1 year old, was visiting the high school with parents and grandparents and fell 36 inches from what school officials believe was the counter.

Lifestar took the child to Hartford Hospital.

The medical helicopter was originally called because of bleeding “issues,” but paramedics stabilized the child, officials said.

State police were called to assist.

School officials said they did not know the child's condition and the incident has nothing to do with students or the nursery on school grounds.
