Officer Under Fire Files for Retirement
A Hartford police officer under investigation for the beating of a suspect took his first steps toward retiring.
One of the two Hartford police officers accused of beating a prisoner has filed for retirement.
Kent Lee, a 20-year-veteran officer, took steps to step down from the department. Despite allegations of the beating, he would still get a pension.
His last day on the force is set for November 21st, according to the police department, but that date is subject to change.
Lee has fulfilled his requirement of his service to the city and has the right to retire, according to a union spokesperson.
Lee and Officer Rhashim Campbell are under investigation for a November 1st incident where they allegedly assaulted a suspect inside the police department.
The incident was caught on tape.
Hartford Police Chief Daryl Roberts has said he plans to file for arrest warrants against both officers in the case.
