Secretary of the State Race Grows to 7

The list is growing for those wanting to be Connecticut's next secretary of the state.

Now there are seven people hoping to become secretary of the state.

Norwalk Town Clerk Andrew Garfunkel, 47, says he's running for the Democratic nomination.

Garfunkel, who has been town clerk since 2001, says he's filed paperwork with the state. He thinks his experience as town clerk makes him a better candidate than others running for this seat.

The race started heating up when Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz said she would not run for re-election because she's wants to run for state attorney general.

Other people who are running, or mulling it over, include Republicans Jerry Farrell Jr., Richard Abbate and Corey Brinson and Democrats Denise Merrill, Jonathan Harris and Gerry Garcia.
