Happy to Be a Nutmegger

The state is the 9th happiest place to live.

People in Connecticut have something to smile about.

The state is ranked ninth in a survey of the 10 happiest states. We were ranked 22 in 2009.

Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index ranked states based on things like emotional health, work environment, physical health, basic access to health care as well as community satisfaction.

The sun and waves helped propel Hawaii to the top of the list. Then comes Wyoming, North Dakota and Alaska.

Overall, results showed the South may need some smile help. 10 southern states fell into the lower range of the list. Many western states fared well.

West Virginia ranked worst in the survey. While our Nutmeg State made the top 10 cut, neighboring Massachusetts came in at 11.
