A lockdown of the Trinity College campus in Hartford was lifted just before 10pm Thursday night after Hartford Police officers spent several hours searching for an armed suspect who allegedly robbed a McDonald's on Flatbush Avenue around 7:30pm.

Hartford Police say the allegedly suspect took his own life after a standoff with police near the campus.

Hartford Police had asked Trinity College security officials to trigger the lockdown because they believed the armed robber may have been hiding on or near the Summit Street campus.

Several roads around the campus have reopened as Hartford Police continue to investigate.
